I've had more than enough time to get a job in my move back but every time I find a listing that excites me my mother brings me down. I hear the lines enough, "Do what you want to do." but having a mother whom I let control my life completely doesn't help. I admit, she's correct in wanting me to have a good paying "career" rather than just a job like other people my age. That is just my dilemma! Although I am considered an adult I'm no where near the kind of young adult she expects me to be.

Great news. I've been asked by both KGBT and Contempo Magazine to contribute content to their blogs. It helps me gain more publicity and "gravitas" as a web writer. It also helps me cross-promote websites. It's always a good idea to get link love from other sites to help with search engine results. These contributions will give me a little cross-link love.
Be sure to read my posts and comment. Continue

You may have noticed that I have slowed down on posting stuff. I had my cameras stolen and don't have a space where I can work in peace. I still have my camera phone, but it's not the same. For the moment, I am limited to recording stuff on Blog Talk Radio and Utterli. I'll resume working on new media once I get more equipment. In the meantime, don't hold back. Continue
I created a couple of Utterli groups for the Rio Grande Valley today. Utterli is a social media network geared towards mobile phones. You can send pictures, messages, video, or call in a post. That post can then be sent out to different people by SMS notification or email. I started the group with the idea that people could somewhat self-promote or organize things through the group.
You can stop by the Rio Grande Valley Utterli group and beco… Continue

If you haven't noticed, we have a new look for the web site. There's a lot more video we wanted people to access easily and there's a lot more information. We added a mobile site with 3gp video.
There's still more additions. But this is a quick note about it. I don't know if you noticed, but I included in the RGV New Media badge on the KRGV on the web page. Continue
We're working on some big changes. You might've already noticed the new on-air graphics and the scrolling news ticker on the bottom of the screen. More changes ahead, which is why I never get a chance to post.
Once everything's launched, hopefully I'll have a chance regularly post blogs and video.
So please forgive the long lapses between posts. Continue
I don't know how closely folks keep up with what I'm doing, except for those of you on Twitter. This Summer, I started working at a local radio service company, in McAllen. I started off as a tech and recently made the move to "Account Executive". I've never had a sales job in the past; so, this is a stretch for me. It seems, however, that it ties in to what I do anyway, right?
From the outside, it seems to me that working in sales is like a campaign… Continue
It's been so long since I've been to the RGV, I've almost forgotten about all the good stuff. At least until I ran into a Harlingen grad living and working here in San Antonio. Turns out we both graduated from Harlingen High School. Of course this was before there were two high schools in Harlingen. (yeah, I know I'm dating myselft ;-P)
We talked about going to the Immaculate Heart of Mary church on Sunday mornings and the subsequent visit to the panderia to pick some Barbacoa and Pan Dulce. Th… Continue

It takes a lot of time to maintain an online presence. Lately, I have not been as aggressive in maintaining an online presence as I would like. I've really neglected some of the online communities that I've started. In some it shows. One, in particular, seems to be doing OK. The only places that have seen any action from me are Twitter and my own blog.
Well, I've been busy out in the "job market". Yes, I to… Continue

With the arrival of another hurricane, it may be the perfect excuse for some of our video bloggers to go out and shoot some footage. You can go out and be a reporter or simply share your experience during the storm. This site lets you send video from your phone to an email address that will post the content. There is also Kyte.tv and other services out there you can try. Why don't you give it a shot? Continue
NEWSCHANNEL 5 reporters Will Ripley and Polo Sandoval, along with photojournalist Gene De La Cruz, drove to Denver to cover the Democratic National Convention. After that, they headed to Minnesota for the Republican National Convention.
Along the road and between filing stories, they recorded video blogs.
I always enjoy a glimpse behind the scenes. And while knowing the guys' breakfast orders and that they worked sitting next to trash cans might not seem like much, I think the blogs are fun to… Continue

Melissa did a great job keeping everybody informed during Hurricane Dolly. She was on the web, on the radio, and on TV. I want to congratulate her on a job well done during the disaster recovery. I will be helping out the residents of the island by going out there this weekend to spend some money. I hope it helps with the recovery. Continue

It seems as if New Zealand's ASR, Ltd. (Almagates Solutions and Research) are much better sales people than project planners and managers. Since Dr. Kerry Black, then with the University of Waikato and now managing director of ASR,Ltd., participated in the development of the first constructed artifi… Continue
